Interesting video you attached at the end of yours that shows an early May climb of Half Dome when the cables were down. One thing I noticed is the scene captioned as the "diving board" is actually the "visor." Many people think it's the diving board (famously shot by Ansel Adams) but that is lower than the summit as described here:
